Commercial and Industrial Pipework Systems

New heating and cooling closed pipework systems rely on correct flushing, cleaning and treatment to operate as intended. This will involve the removal of installation debris, millscale and building debris. If not removed, these can make the system prone to blockage at e.g. strainers or small control valves. They can also encourage corrosion and the growth of micro-organisms.

Existing heating and cooling closed pipework systems require a more tailored approach than for new systems. Installations, often more than 10 years old, may not incorporate facilities usually included on newly installed, modern systems, may not have been the subject of a suitable water systems maintenance regime and may also be required to remain in service for the duration of the clean.

Open pipework cooling systems require special attention to factors affecting corrosion, scale and microbiological conditions. The re-emergence of open cooling towers as a popular and efficient means of providing cooling makes this particularly relevant. Furthermore, current legislation in the form of ACOP L8 requires installers, consultants and building owners to design, install, maintain and operate systems using managed systems, procedures and qualified personnel to prevent the spread and potential effects of Legionella bacteria. We can advise on supplementary requirements, e.g. biocide washing, to meet your needs. We also have access to a wide range of chemicals to cover any requirements, from polymer cleaning and acid cleaning to microbiocidal treatment programmes.

Domestic Water Services Systems

Domestic water services require special attention, particularly with respect to microbiological conditions.

Taylor & Stapleton Solutions offer a full variety of Legionella control services to allow designers, installers, facilities teams, building operators and other responsible parties, to comply with regulations, legislation and guidance laid out within BS6700 and the HSC’s ACOP:L8 (Control of Legionella bacteria in water systems). We can offer wide-ranging Legionella Risk Assessments, independent laboratory sampling services and system specific chlorinations, disinfections and water treatment maintenance programmes.
